Monday - Upper Body Powerlifting - Day 273
Today was the last day of week 4 of the Candito program. Week 5 is just 3 short workouts where you work up to 1 set of the main lift (bench, deadlift, squat), where you use 5lbs less than your training max, aiming for 1-4 reps. We'll see how it goes, I think deadlift and squat will be no problem, but I'm hoping to really kill it on bench press.
Today's workout went quite well. I hit all my lifts on bench press and felt pretty good, though wow does 205lbs feel heavy! I also felt great with my accessory lifts, getting in more reps with weight on my weighted pull-ups than before. Weighted pull-ups are an awesome way to train your back, shoulders, and arms, and not to mention your forearms!
After today I actually get 2 scheduled days off from lifting, the plan tomorrow is probably to go swimming, so I think I can do swimming tomorrow and yoga/stretching Wednesday, get my body feeling ready for the next challenge.
Tuesday - Swimming - Day 274
Had a great time swimming at a friend's apartment indoor pool today. It was definitely more of a relaxing day, allowing my muscles to relax in the hot tub. However, I did a handful of sprints in the pool, mostly with front crawl. I like swimming as an exercise because it incorporates your whole body and is an incredible cardiovascular workout.
Wednesday - Stretch - Day 275
I did some nice simple stretching today using a Fitness Blender video. It was nice to get through the whole body and work out lots of tight areas, like my neck and my hamstrings. I'd like to get into a little more stretching than I do, as I do spend a lot of time sitting during my day.
Thursday - Lower Body Powerlifting - Day 276
Today was the last day of the "squat" portion of Candito. The workout wasn't too bad, and it felt good to easily hit my numbers. I also tried doing some power cleans during my "optional" exercises. They're fun, but wow are they challenging. Definitely important to go low weight and get some coaching when possible if you want to try more advanced moves.
Friday - Cardio/core Circuits - Day 277
The benefit of doing lots of classes and training is that I have a lot of exercises in my back pocket. Today I was a little unmotivated to do anything specific, and I was really excited about watching the first day of American Ninja Warrior finals in Vegas. So basically, while watching, I set up my Interval Timer app and did 5 Tabata circuits. I pushed myself pretty hard, doing a mix of squats, pushups, lunges and more. It wasn't perfect, but I'd say it got the job done.
Saturday - Upper Body Powerlifting - Day 278
Last day of the upper body portion of Candito. I was happy to have my friend Joseph work out with me today. The bench portion was TOUGH today. My end goal was to bench 210lbs for 1-4 reps. I'll say "unfortunately" that I only hit 2, as I wanted to go for more. But I'm definitely getting stronger, and it was a fun workout. After all the lifting, we were tired, but I pushed Jo to do a quick Tabata circuit with pushups and battle ropes. Needless to say, we were exhausted!
Sunday - Core De Force Power Sculpt - Day 279
With a little less motivation today, putting on a video was an easy way to get going. I haven't done this video before and it was tough! 37 minutes, 9 rounds with a 60s, 45s and 30s move. Short breaks between each, but some of the moves really got you going, like doing squat roll jumps for 60s! I think we could say by the end of this, I felt like I was really "scultiping" my body.
On to another week of being
Active Every Single Day
*Super late in posting this because of the long weekend throwing off my schedule, but rest assured I'm still keeping up with things, and you should expect another post of keeping things going on Sunday.
